Private Equity Fundraising Climbed in First Half Despite Fewer Closings
ByThe amount of capital raised by U.S. private equity funds climbed even as the frantic pace of closings slowed during the first half of the year, according to Dow Jones LP Source, a data provider owned by Private Equity Analyst publisher Dow Jones & Co.
About 378 U.S. private equity funds holding interim or final closings for the first six months of the year, down from 426 funds a year earlier.
The amount of money raised increased, however, thanks partly to billions of dollars investors pumped into funds raised by some of the industry’s most well-known names.
Private equity firms closed on a total of $143.3 billion for the first half of the year across strategies including buyout, venture capital, mezzanine, secondary and funds of funds, up 10% from the $130.34 billion raised in the year-earlier period…
